Don’t Let Your Skin Hold You Back
It’s time to get ready for summer … that wonderful time of year when turtlenecks get relegated to the highest shelves, heating bills drop faster than you can say “summer lovin”, and flowers are in full bloom. But while the warmer weather and increased sunshine can add a spring to your step, the thought of exposing skin that’s been kept under wraps through fall and winter can make even the bravest among us long for the days of winter gone by, or worse yet … feeling depressed.
Skinsecurities are real and more than 80% of women don’t like what they see in the mirror. This dissatisfaction can be intensified by more revealing summer fashions. The good news is that increasing your skin confidence is simple. Tune in to Derm RF this month for all the information you need to get your skin ready for summer and feel great about how you look … because your skin should never hold you back.
Sincerely,
Your Derm RF Team

Myth Busters
Myth: Dead Skin Cells Are Just Dust in the Wind
In the case of exfoliation, there’s more benefit to the process than meets the eye. Sure, you’ll slough off dulling dead cell buildup and be visually rewarded by a more youthful, radiant glow, but that’s only the part you see and feel.
Under the surface, the removal of that layer has another powerful effect … its absence actually signals your newly forming cells that their time has come and encourages them to “rise to the occasion” so to speak, promoting ongoing, healthy skin cell turnover. Pretty cool, right? So don’t give your skin the silent treatment … communicate with it regularly by exfoliating often.

All Hyped Up
From groceries to handbags, there is constant media buzz around all things “organic,” “green” and “natural.” But while these claims can mean great things for the environment, there’s a little more gray area when it comes to skincare. Tune in to this week’s webisode of Skinpact News, “All Hyped Up” to hear from Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields on what an “organic” claim really means for your skincare, and how to understand product labels so you get the most bang for your skincare buck.

Habits that Haunt
Thinking One Size Fits All
Just like shoes and clothes, when it comes to skincare, and especially exfoliation, one size does not fit all. What works to exfoliate the thick skin on your heels and elbows is most likely too aggressive for your face. Furthermore, what works for your face might be too aggressive for your lips.
For best results, be particular about particle size and use the right product for the job. Look for an exfoliation product specifically designed to address specific body parts for a glowing appearance from head to toe.

I love the gentle yet very effective exfoliating effect I get when I use the ANTI-AGE cleanser as a mask. All I do is massage the clay-based cleanser onto dry skin; the massaging process provides gentle exfoliation with dimethicone beads. Then I let the cleansing mask dry on my skin. The clay will “grab” the dead skin cells and help to draw impurities from my pores. Once dry (about 2 minutes), the mask is easy to rinse off and my skin feels so fresh and smooth with absolutely no irritation or dryness. ANTI-AGE Daily Cleansing Mask definitely scores on my list as a favorite skincare staple.
Ingredients of the Month
Dimethicone Beads
These tiny beads deliver huge results when it comes to exfoliation. Unlike larger or irregularly shaped particles, these smooth operators produce an effective and even removal of dulling dead cell buildup, while depositing the active ingredient dimethicone— recognized by the FDA as a skin protectant. Find dimethicone beads in Rodan + Fields® ANTI-AGE Daily Cleansing Mask.
Kaolin clay
Known for its pore-refining benefits and ability to draw oil and dirt from the skin, kaolin clay is also a natural exfoliant. Dulling dead skin cells adhere to this mineral-rich clay and are then washed away – just like a piece of tape lifts lint off a black shirt. You can find pore-refining kaolin clay in Rodan + Fields ANTI-AGE Daily Cleansing Mask.
