Regardless of whether you fear or look forward to turning into your mother, the reality is, it’s pretty much entirely up to you. Science has taught us that DNA accounts for only 20 percent of visible aging changes. So yes, genetics play a role, but the environment and daily habits are responsible for a whopping 80 percent. And that’s great news! You, not your parents, are in the driver’s seat when it comes to controlling your skin’s destiny.
With advances in skincare technology, even if you thought your appearance was a lost cause as a result of years of either ignorance (like sunbathing sans SPF) or outright abuse to your body (like smoking), a beautiful skin future can still be in the cards for you. You just have to play them right.
